1961 Comet Dealer Showroom Sign
This is a 1961 Comet Showroom sign. This is the only one I have ever seen. It is made like a wooden shade with the sign painted on it. Very fragile so I bet a lot didn't make it! |
1961 Comet Air Conditioning Phamplet
This is a phamplet showing the Mercury and Comet Air Conditioners. These were a dealer installed item. They were called Polaraire and the Comet version was smaller than the Mercury version. It says they were designed for Mercury and Comet and simple to install and transfer to another vehicle! |

This is a letter sent to the press to introduce the 61 Comet and tell of all the changes from 1960. |
1961 Comet Fleet Packet
This is a letter and a phamplet showing the advantages of buying the 1961 Comet for fleet use. I would love to get a photo of a fleet of 61 Comets just to see what they were used for! |

These are 6 large black and white press photo's for the 1961 Comet, 2 press releases, with photos attached, and a color press photo. |
1961 Comet Post Card
This is a post card that dealers sent to potential customers. It has a picture of the 1961 Comet on one side, along with a picture of a full size Mercury! On the other side is a price comparison between the Comet and the Olds F-85, Buick Special, Pontiac Tempest, Corvair 700, Valiant 200 and Dodge Lancer. On this particular card is a stamp from Rotunda Motors Inc from LaSalle, Illimois. It is listed as a Lincoln, Mercury, Comet dealer. This is another example of Comet not being a Mercury in 61. There is an address that this card was sent too and a 3 cent stamp! |
